We started harvesting our latest (Desi) chick pea crop a few days ago, they are yielding between 1.3 and 1.4 t ha which considering we had zero in crop rainfall is quiet Ok.
The quality is very nice and they will be on supermarket shelves soon.
Stu, I think that is a reasonable outcome given the unknown genetics. Reckon that a more drought-hardy Aussie variety would have given you another 20-25% upside on yield. Hopefully you are happy with the decision to use the available moisture?
Re supermarkets, it is sold under the butterfly brand is quite a few. RE Peter, yes good advice from yourself to give them a go, the last two truck test over the weigh bridge have the yield at just on 1600kg ha, so like you say, given the unknown variety and zero in crop rain fall its been a winner, thanks again for your encouragement to try it.
Waoh, this is great. Which supermarket can i purchase from?
