The lads and I

I took this footage while travelling back from the farm (Shamba) on Friday afternoon. Some of them are contractors, grader, ect. Three of the fellow's are stone masons who are clearing any remaining sharp thorn bush roots until we start building our grain shed and workshop.

Planting Trials

This is some of our team, from left James,Sampson and Christiano. We have finished planting the commercial country and were today planting the trials, The bags the fellows are holding are 2kg bags of maize, not exactly bulk. As we were only planting 4 hectares of each type so it was not a drama.

My Team helping load Fert

No Bulk fertilizer here, Left to Right are Alex our gardener, Kacheif, Al our Askari's (security) and Sampson who works on the Shamba (farm).

One of Annies Darlings

This is Johny, he is a real charactor,he is five and lives at the Orphanage (childrens home) that Annie, James and Grace visit each week.

Planting at Last

Well, it was a happy day. It took a while, although after a long waiting game after around 400mm of rain in around 40 days we have lift off.
I am planting just over 50,000 seeds per ha of white Sorghum, aiming on establishing 40,000 or so, wait and see I guess. It will take about a week as I am just planting it myself while the rest of our team keep the other jobs going. After planting completion of the fence is the next priority.

Fence Progress

Things always take longer than you expect, my Dad always says that I underestimate how long a job will take. Well he is right again. As we have started planting (on right of photo) we are also busy trying to get the 8km or so of fence complete.

A happy Annie

Annie has found a place accross the road with 23 children that dont have parents. Annie, James and Grace are over there as much as possible. The kids are happy and Annie is happy to love them.
More later.
